New Energy Solution is Small as a Brick but Can Power Your Home

February 23, 2010

As we know, we’re at peak oil. The Earth just doesn’t have any more to give in terms of fossil fuels and the demand is only growing. With the supply running dangerously low and the demand increasing, we’re going to find ourselves up you-know-what creek without a paddle or even a boat! However, with what I would consider tepid response to renewable forms of energy and inadequate funding, we’re going to be using these forms of energy a bit longer. So, in the meantime, maybe a new technology called the Bloom Box can be a nexus step. This is a really impressive little bit of technology. It can run off of almost any combustible material and has a high input/output ratio. With such inovation out there, all I can do is wonder why money isn’t being poured into these avenues of research. Wouldn’t we be better off not killing the environment? Even if you don’t subscribe to global warming (which is occurring though there are still many unanswered questions about how it works and where it’s heading) wouldn’t it be better to have energy that we don’t have to kill people over since it’s abundant? Maybe I’m just an idealist, but I’m sure that we can find a way to harvest the energy we need to run this civilization without ruining our world our slaughtering each other.
